Shopping, for many people, is time for relieving stress. Indulging in something can be a way to pamper yourself after a stressful time. But there are some shopping trips that may be stressful for some. Parents sometimes dread the back to school shopping with their teenagers as they may not in agreement with the budget or the clothes to buy.

If you are planning a shopping trip with your teenager soon, check out the tips below that will help make the trip easier and less stressful.

  1. Take note of the dress code:Make sure that you are aware of the rules that may be in place in your teen’s school. Some high schools may have fewer rules compared to when your children were in grade school, but it also depends on the school they go to. You don’t want to just buy whatever your teen wants and find out that they will not be allowed in their classes because of it.
  2. Set a budgetYou need to let your teen know exactly how much money will be spent on their clothes. In that way, they will also learn to prioritize and buy what they really want. Tell them the budget at least a few days before your day of shopping so that they can plan what to buy. You can even ask them to look for discounts and coupons that can be used.
  3. Create an idea boardTeenage girls may be more amenable to doing this. You can ask them to go on Pinterest or just look for styles or specific things that they want to purchase.  When they have an idea of the style they want to have for the year, they can research on which stores they will be found. Planning like this can help you plan your day, from which store to go first and so on. This way the route is mapped out and you will be saving a lot of time and effort.
  4. Get friends to go on the trip with youIf you are going shopping with your daughters it might be a good idea to ask them to invite some friends. It’s usually their friends that they ask for fashion advice and with her friends going on the trip with you, you are saving time by not having to wait for them to send pictures to her friends asking for fashion advice. You can even schedule a little mani-pedi at the end of the day to get rid of the stress the shopping time may have brought.
  5. Check for discounts at designer storesJust because you have set a budget for the shopping does not mean that you should not consider buying from designer stores. When you buy off-season, chances are you might stumble upon some good deals. Don’t hesitate to invest in designer clothes, as it’s not only for style but you are also assured of the quality of the clothes, so you may be saving money in the long run.
