Hey everyone and welcome to today’s post. In this post, I will be sharing 4 tips on how to shop on Chinese wholesale websites. Over the past few weeks, I have been working with a few of them such as SheIn, Romwe, Rosegal, and Fashion71. These sites are known for having a wide selection of clothing items such as dresses, tops, shoes, bags etc at very affordable prices but they also get a bad rap for delivering sub-par items (Buzzfeed did a whole article about this).
Since I started working with these Chinese wholesale websites, I’ve been getting a lot of questions about ordering from them. Today’s post will cover 4 very important tips that I have used when ordering to ensure that I get the items I ordered for. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions about what I’m talking about and I’ll answer them in the comment section below.

1. Visit the closest post office and find your zip code!
Yes, we have zip codes in Nigeria. This is the most important piece of info you need to order from these websites. If like me, you don’t have the money to pay for DHL or express, you’re going to chose the cheapest (and sometimes free) offer of using the local post to ship your items. The Chinese local post are very efficient in labeling your items before they ship and they always include the zip code if you provide it to them. In fact, some sites require you to insert your zip code. To find the zip code for your local post office, you could either go to the closest one around you and ask for it or you could Google ‘zip code + your street name’ and it will come up.
2. Make sure you use their size guide before you add to cart
So you have your zip code and you have found what you want to buy. Before you add anything to your cart, be sure to check their size guide. Like the UK & US, China has it’s own size guide and their sizes run very small. Check their size guide to make sure you’re ordering clothing in the right size. Anything that’s described ‘oversized’, order a size up. Anything that says ‘one-size’, pray that their one size fits ya body.
3. Pay via Paypal
It’s now time to pay and I highly suggest you pay via Paypal. Even though Paypal is limited in Nigeria (you can’t receive money), it’s the safest way to ensure you get your money back in case you don’t receive the items that you paid for. If you don’t get your items, you can file a claim with them and they will return your money. Many of these sites provide Paypal as a payment option so when you shop, look for the Paypal logo to make sure you can pay with it.
4. Look around for discounts and codes
Many of these sites work with bloggers around the world so before you pay, look for a discount code or affiliate link to shop with (I have a 10% discount code on Rosegal btw –RGEN and several links with Romwe and SheIn). It saves you some money plus, the blogger looks good knowing she/he directed people to shop from these sites. It’s literally a win-win situation.
