Hey everyone! Today’s review is of the R&R Luxury Shea Sugar Scrub. I bought it for my mother for Mother’s Day but she didn’t like it so I decided to take it as my own
There is no ingredient list on the container but from using it I know it contains shea butter, sugar and lemon grass oil. Sugar is a great exfoliator, shea butter is a great moisturizer, reduces inflammation and smooths skin and lemon grass oil does a lot of good things. It limits bacterial or microbial growth on the skin, it helps cure fungus infections on the skin, acts as an astringent, helps to minimize pores, limit the secretions of oil and provide a temporary skin-firming treatment. Lemon grass is fantastic but it is an essential oil which means it can cause irritation and burning.
I love how it smells. The sugar gives it a rough texture but when I rub it between my fingers, the shea butter melts into an oil and this allows me to spread it evenly on my face.
The only issue I have with this scrub is the amount of lemongrass oil in it. When I first applied it to my face, the lemongrass oil started to burn my skin. I had to quickly rub it ff with my washcloth; I thought my face was about to fall apart. I have found that sweet spot now between too much and too little to not burn my face off.
VERDICT – If you’re looking for a scrub that is packed with power, buy this one. I use it as an addition to my oil cleansing routine in the mornings and my face has been smoother and looking fresher. Don’t use it everyday tho; excess exfoliation will strip your skin and that is not good.
