Spring/Summer 2012 Trends – Peplums, Vintage and Gatsby Glamour

I see you are back for more! I won’t dissappoint!

This post is all about peplums, vintage and Gatsby Glamour for the season!

Dress up your waist with peplums

A peplum is a short overskirt that is usually attached to a fitted jacket, blouse or dress. They help to accentuate your waist and give you a very nice silhouette.

Alexander McQueen
Christian Dior
Jason Wu
Nina Ricci

Practical way to wear this trend:

A nice and simple peplum skirt can be paired with a simple tee or a white shirt. Prefect for all those night you want to show off the legs and draw eyes to your waist.

Vintage – The Fifties USA

The fifties was an affluent time filled with several key vintage features we wear today. Designers took a hint from the dreams of the fifties and incroporsted key pieces such a s glossy leather, midriff baring tops, cat-eye sunglasses and  muscle-car print motif.

Marc Jacobs

Practical way to wear this trend:

I would say go bare your midriff but most of us aren’t so bold. So I say get yourself a pair of cat-eye sunglasses and you will be fine!

The Gatsby Glamour

If you don’t know classic book ‘The Great Gatsby’ by F. Scott Fitzgerald, you are carrying a serious last. Designers took a hint from the roaring twenties(the time period the book was based) and we saw beaded and flapper dresses, tasselled trims,  feathers and cloche hats.

Ralph Lauren
Emporio Armani
Philosophy of Alberta Ferretti

Practical way of wearing this trend:

Why don’t you be bold and get yourself a flapper dress? With beads and/or fringes on your dress, you will def stand out in it.
